Avalanche Recognition & Rescue

This workshop is geared toward skiers, snowboarders, climbers, and other backcountry enthusiasts wanting to add some basic avalanche knowledge to their skill set. Students will perform in full rescue scenarios, allowing them the opportunity to practice the leadership and communication required in a successful avalanche rescue. Topics covered during the workshop include:

  • Group rescue techniques
  • Transceiver basics & use
  • Leadership & communication skills for backcountry rescue situations
  • Rescue scenarios

Course Time: Morning session in the classroom (3 hours), afternoon in the field (5 hours)
